Hello, I'm Rie, a Japanese female guitarist. Currently, we are holding concerts mainly in Tokyo.
She has composed all the songs herself and has released 15 CD albums to date.

Rie has a definite tone, which can not be mistaken for anyone else playing in the history of guitar, Japan, USA, UK or anywhere.

Absolutely makes my week whenever Poppin Records drops a video. Love these women. The whole collective of musicians that move in and out of the Rie aka Suzaku circle. I hate that I will never be able to see these women perform live and if I did, at Blue Mood, Blue Note, whatever, I would undoubedly be viewed as one of those crazy gaijans, whooping and hollering in appreciation and otherwise being way more boisterous than the polite Japanese audience.
"The Circle of Rie aka Suzaku". I've always wondered what this should be called. I listen to and like all things in "The Circle".

Rie is just a dynamo, isn't she? I like that they switch players sometimes. That makes it interesting. Never know who will show up on the next one.
Pretty sure that they all try to stay busy as much as possible. Like all of us have, they have bills to pay. At least they're doing what they love. (and what we love to hear & see)

jeezus is rie amazing ! i try to get reactors to do her songs to no avail. one of the best guitarists ever and no takers. they don't have any idea what they are missing and pisses me off. still waiting for another RIVINI cd. don't know what happened to vivi , nicky and ami - have not seen them since the 2018 cd.
Nicky was the vocalist for Bad Baby Bomb, who broke up a while ago. vivi has played with various people, including currently being the drummer for Shoujo S along with having been drummer for the now defunct Bakudan Kokiatsu.
Spectacular! My only criticism, and it's minor, but the keyboards needed to be brought a little more forward in the mix. Besides that, this was an amazing performance.
I can't understand why this happens so often. Many videos have an instrument that's almost impossible to hear. I doesn't seem to me it would be real hard to get the mix sounding right with the kinds of equipment they use.

What time signature is this?
Not uncommonly musical phenomena are not as complex as they may seem at a first listen. Count from One to Four (plus some small 3/4 inserts) and you are on the safe side.
Back off on the hi gain setting on the guitar a bit. Hard to play the notes cleanly, which this type of music needs. Get more of a Lukuther or Lari Basilio tone and you will be golden! Stellar musicians though!
It wouldn't be Rie anymore, and would be boring.
Agreed - the tone is too shrill. Which is a shame because she is great guitarist. Or maybe we have been listening to too much Lari Basilio? Not heard of Lukuther. I'll check them out.
